This week, I introduced an amendment to the FY2023 Appropriations Bill that will block our foreign adversaries from purchasing American agricultural land in the United States Working for Central Washington This week was incredibly busy with Appropriations Committee markups, where I worked to help protect taxpayer funds from wasteful spending and support important Central Washington priorities such as agriculture and food security, as well as our national security. Protecting Our Food Supply Chain from Our Foreign Adversaries China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are not our allies, and it is imperative that we do not allow them to infiltrate our agriculture industry and threaten our food supply chain. The Biden Administration's poor policy decisions have already weakened our food supply chain—we must ensure our adversaries cannot control our domestic food supply to protect our national security. Read More on My Website Securing Our Southern Border Since President Biden took office, we have seen a surge of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border. Our border and national security is under attack, and Title 42 is one of our last defenses against becoming an open-border country. I introduced an amendment to extend Title 42, enhancing our border security. My amendment will give our already-inundated border patrol agents the time and tools they need to ensure our border is secure and our communities are safe. Border security is national security. Read More in the Hill Securing an Agriculture Labor Workforce Central Washington farmers and ranchers need a reliable and legal workforce, especially with all of the burdens imposed on the agriculture industry due to the Biden Administration's poor policy decisions. I introduced an amendment to allow the H-2A temporary agriculture guestworker program to be accessed year-round. This amendment supports legal immigration while making H-2A more workable for our nation’s farmers.
