Working for Central Washington
This week was incredibly busy with Appropriations Committee markups, where I worked to help protect taxpayer funds from wasteful spending and support important Central Washington priorities such as agriculture and food security, as well as our national security. Three of my amendments were successfully adopted by the Committee and will be included in the FY23 Appropriations Bills.

Read more below on what each amendment will do.
Protecting Our Food Supply Chain from Our Foreign Adversaries
China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are not our allies, and it is imperative that we do not allow them to infiltrate our agriculture industry and threaten our food supply chain. The Biden Administration's poor policy decisions have already weakened our food supply chain—we must ensure our adversaries cannot control our domestic food supply to protect our national security.

I introduced an amendment to block these countries from purchasing American agricultural land in the United States and it was adopted unanimously by voice vote.
Securing Our Southern Border
Since President Biden took office, we have seen a surge of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border. Our border and national security is under attack, and Title 42 is one of our last defenses against becoming an open-border country.

I introduced an amendment to extend Title 42, enhancing our border security.

My amendment will give our already-inundated border patrol agents the time and tools they need to ensure our border is secure and our communities are safe. Border security is national security.
Securing an Agriculture Labor Workforce
Central Washington farmers and ranchers need a reliable and legal workforce, especially with all of the burdens imposed on the agriculture industry due to the Biden Administration's poor policy decisions.

I introduced an amendment to allow the H-2A temporary agriculture guestworker program to be accessed year-round. This amendment supports legal immigration while making H-2A more workable for our nation’s farmers.
Today, Life Wins

Standing Up for the Second Amendment
I am a proud, lifelong supporter of the Second Amendment and will continue to ensure Americans can exercise their right to bear arms.

The Supreme Court announced this week a huge win for Second Amendment rights, upholding American citizens' right to keep and bear arms and reaffirming that law-abiding Americans can defend themselves without unnecessary government interference.
2022 Congressional Art Challenge Winner
Every year I am excited to share the talents of Central Washington through the Congressional Art Challenge, and this year's competition did not disappoint.

Congratulations to Morgan Greene of A.C. Davis High School for winning this year's 2022 Congressional Art Challenge! Her artwork, Silenced, will be displayed in the halls of Congress raising awareness in our fight to end Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
We must protect Central Washington's veterans
