The United States Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade
Today, the conservative majority of the United States Supreme Court overturned case precedent and dismantled the landmark rulings Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey . You can read the Court's full opinion here. [[link removed]]
Abortion bans are expected in over half of U.S. states (with notably few exemptions for rape and incest) [[link removed]] . While this ruling directly impacts abortion access, Justice Thomas used the piece to state, "In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.” [[link removed]] This should be considered a call for legal challenges to bodily autonomy, the right to privacy, the right to love whom you wish and more.
This case is the beginning of another long fight to restore abortion access and fully enshrine equality at all levels of government.
