Despite this abhorrent ruling, abortion is still legal. If you or someone you know is in need of abortion services (including financial resources for those who have to travel), you can find the nearest provider and other resources here. [[link removed].]
John – Congress had five long decades to codify Roe into law. Instead they have allowed a fundamental human right to hinge on the fig leaf of Supreme Court precedent.
That fig leaf was just ripped away by the court’s 6-3 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
Roe v Wade has been thrown out by a Supreme Court packed with far-right extremists.
It’s time for Congress to step up. There are a number of remedies we can pursue, and all options must be on the table. Here are just a few:
Abolish the Jim Crow filibuster
Pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe TODAY
Pass the Equality Act
Expand the Supreme Court
Make no mistake, what’s happening goes far beyond abortion. In his concurring opinion to the 6-3 decision, Clarence Thomas took direct aim at LGBTQIA rights, contraception – and by extension, countless other civil liberties.

The implications of this disastrous decision will be far-reaching and difficult to undo without extraordinary remedies like those we outlined above.
No matter what, we will keep fighting and supporting anyone who needs abortion services.
Today we are asking our supporters to contribute to the National Network of Abortion Funds which distributes funds to clinics all around the country providing low and no-cost abortions to anyone who needs one. [[link removed]]
We are also asking you to show up. In the coming days there will be many protests, marches, and calls to action. We will share events with you as we can. Find an event in your area, and show up to make your voice heard for abortion rights. It’s time to be angry, loud, and visible.
We will never stop saying it. Abortion is healthcare. Healthcare is a human right. And human rights are non-negotiable.
Going backwards is not an option. We must seize this moment and be ready to dig in for a long fight.
In solidarity,
Brand New Congress

Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. We invest EARLY to help grassroots candidates succeed. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020 alongside Jamaal Bowman and Rashida Tliab. And we have our first win of 2022: Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won her primary by FIVE votes thanks to BNC.
We have elections from now until November, and our candidates are counting on your support. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
