Hey Indivisibles,

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has worked hard to undo many of
the harms of the Trump administration. However, almost half of Americans
are living in areas with unhealthy levels of air pollution and many
communities don’t have access to clean water. Representatives Mike Levin
and Katie Porter are leading a letter calling on the EPA to strengthen
clean air and water standards. President Biden has the power to accomplish
this, but we need a strong showing of support for using executive action
to address pollution! [ [link removed] ]Call your Representative right now to make sure
they sign-on!

In case you missed last week’s update, there’s also been progress on our
other issues:

* We’re still celebrating President Biden’s announcement to invoke the
Defense Production Act to ramp up investment in green technologies
🎉[ [link removed] ]Check out Leah’s recap video on this victory here!
* Rep. Ilhan Omar along with 55 congressional colleagues released a
letter calling for [ [link removed] ]Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to provide
details about the specific timeline and implementation of President
Biden’s plan to cancel student debt. In the letter, they state, “it is
important that borrowers get relief quickly and aren't hampered by
unnecessary roadblocks and obligations.” This is the crux of the
argument now. We need President Biden to fulfill his commitment to
cancellation in a manner that is fast and effective, does not create
unnecessary barriers that would unduly burden our most vulnerable
borrowers -- AND ensures he goes big to provide the broadest relief.

In addition to swift climate action, and immediate movement on student
debt, there are so many substantive issues that we need to push President
Biden to use his power of executive action to bring about much needed
change and improve the lives of the American people.

This is where you come in:

 1. Prescription Drug Pricing

* If you have a Democratic senator, [ [link removed] ]click here to tell them to
sign on to Sen. Warren's open letter calling on Biden to lower
prescription drug pricing now. The deadline is TODAY!
* If you have a Democratic representative, [ [link removed] ]click here to tell
them to sign on to Representatives Doggett and Castro's letter to
end Big Pharma’s price gouging. The deadline is TODAY!
* If you have Republican representation, [ [link removed] ]click here to call the
White House comment line and tell Biden directly that we need
cheap access to essential drugs like EpiPens, HIV/AIDS
medication, and insulin.

 2. Student Debt

* If you have Republican representation, [ [link removed] ]click here to connect
to the White House comment line and tell Biden directly that 25%
of borrowers who held student debt in 2009 owe more today than
they did ten years ago, and that means testing and restrictive
barriers would be a disaster for implementation ([ [link removed] ]more on why
it’s prohibitive here).
* If you have a Democratic senator, [ [link removed] ]click here to tell them to
encourage Biden to cancel at least $50,000 in federal student
debt without restrictive barriers.
* If you have a Democratic representative, [ [link removed] ]click here to tell
them to remind Biden that $50,000 in debt cancellation would
relieve 80% of borrowers from their debt burden.

 3. [ [link removed] ]Click here to demand the White House strengthen the Justice40
Initiative before it is finalized. Last year, President Biden
instituted his interim Justice40 Initiative to ensure at least 40% of
federal climate investments directly benefit frontline communities. As
he’s looking to finalize guidelines, now is a critical time to provide
feedback so that the end policies will be as impactful as possible.
Talk to your friends. Talk to your family. Talk to everyone. Most
importantly, tell the White House to strengthen Justice40.
Environmental justice will not be just until the most impacted
communities are supported. [ [link removed] ](To learn more, watch this video about
Justice40.)
 4. [ [link removed] ]Click here to chip in $10 to Indivisible to help fund our
work. Last week’s win on climate technologies shows that our methods
are working. Chip in $10 today to make sure we can keep doing things
like running call scripts, texting, e-mailing, and organizing
Indivisibles across the country to fight for change.

People across the country are looking for relief. Let’s get to work to
lock in some more wins for the American people as soon as possible.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
