Indivisibles,

Yesterday, Rep. Ilhan Omar along with 55 congressional colleagues released
a letter [ [link removed]- ]calling for Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to provide
details about the specific timeline and implementation of President
Biden’s plan to cancel student debt.

In the letter, they state, “it is important that borrowers get relief
quickly and aren't hampered by unnecessary roadblocks and obligations.”
This is the crux of the argument now. We need President Biden to ensure
simple and accessible implementation of student debt cancellation. Biden
has already committed to cancellation. Now we need to make sure that he
does so in a manner that is swift, effective, and without unnecessary
barriers that would unduly burden our most vulnerable borrowers -- AND we
must ensure he goes big to provide the broadest relief.

Last week, we got a big win for the Let’s Go Joe campaign when Biden
invoked the Defense Production Act to ramp up investment in green
technologies ([ [link removed]- ]check out Leah’s celebration video here)! There is a lot
going on in the world that feels imminent and impossible to address, this
win reminds us that we have the opportunity to make substantive changes
for the American people. Now is the time when we need to push Biden to use
the power of executive action to improve the lives of the American people
immediately.

This is where you come in:

 1. Student Debt:

* If you have a Democratic senator, [ [link removed]- ]click here to tell them to
encourage Biden to cancel at least $50,000 in federal student
debt without restrictive barriers.
* If you have a Democratic representative, [ [link removed]- ]click here to tell
them to remind Biden that $50,000 in debt cancellation would
relieve 80% of borrowers from their debt burden.
* If you have Republican representation, [ [link removed]- ]click here to connect
to the White House comment line and tell Biden directly that 25%
of borrowers who held student debt in 2009 owe more today than
they did ten years ago, and that means testing and restrictive
barriers would be a disaster for implementation ([ [link removed]- ]more on why
it’s prohibitive here).

 2. Prescription Drug Pricing:

* If you have a Democratic senator, [ [link removed]- ]click here to tell them to
sign on to Sen. Warren's open letter calling on Biden to lower
prescription drug pricing now.
* If you have a Democratic representative, [ [link removed]- ]click here to tell
them to sign on to Representatives Doggett and Castro's letter to
end Big Pharma’s price gouging.
* If you have Republican representation, [ [link removed]- ]click here to call the
White House comment line and tell Biden directly that we need
cheap access to essential drugs like EpiPens, HIV/AIDS
medication, and insulin.

 3. [ [link removed]- ]Click here to demand the White House strengthen the Justice40
Initiative before it is finalized. Last year, President Biden
instituted his interim Justice40 Initiative to ensure at least 40% of
federal climate investments directly benefit frontline communities. As
he’s looking to finalize guidelines, now is a critical time to provide
feedback so that the end policies will be as impactful as possible.
Talk to your friends. Talk to your family. Talk to everyone. Most
importantly, tell the White House to strengthen Justice40.

communities are supported. [ [link removed]- ](To learn more, watch this video about

June 16 at 6pm ET/3pm PT. Join Indivisible and our partners tonight as
we come together to hear stories about how our communities have been
impacted by exorbitant prescription drug costs, and to learn about
what action we can take as a movement to take power away from large
corporations like pharmaceutical companies who put their profits above
our health.

Last week’s win on climate technologies shows that our methods are
working. Chip in $10 today to make sure we can keep doing things like
running call scripts, texting, e-mailing, and organizing Indivisibles
across the country to fight for change.

People across the country are looking for relief. Let’s get to work to
lock in some more wins for the American people as soon as possible.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
