On January 6th, 2021, we saw the consequences of unchecked, legitimized dis- and misinformation (DisMis). Insurrectionists inspired by conspiracy theories and lies spread by elected officials stormed the Capitol. The dangers and consequences of misinformation have never been clearer.

“Even the concept of early voting is not the greatest.”

These statements planted a seed in the minds of people across the country, snowballing into the “Big Lie” and eventually culminating in the January 6th insurrection.
