On January 6th, 2021, we saw the consequences of unchecked, legitimized dis- and misinformation (DisMis). Insurrectionists inspired by conspiracy theories and lies spread by elected officials stormed the Capitol. The dangers and consequences of misinformation have never been clearer.

And it all began with a couple of statements by Donald Trump on April 7th, 2020.

“The mail ballots are corrupt, in my opinion.”

“I think that mail-in voting is a terrible thing.”

“Even the concept of early voting is not the greatest.”

These statements planted a seed in the minds of people across the country, snowballing into the “Big Lie” and eventually culminating in the January 6th insurrection. GWI is driven to stop dangerous misinformation like this before it has a chance to snowball. Will you chip in $10 to help us stop DisMis before it spreads?
