Hey there — Today is my 85th birthday, and in a minute I’m going to ask you to donate to my daughter’s reelection campaign, but first let me explain why you should support her.

Yvette has always had a strong sense of public service. As a child, she joined me at endless community meetings and saw first hand the importance of meeting people where they are to better learn and understand the issues that are impacting their everyday lives.

She took that lesson to heart, and has used that as her guiding principle to proudly represent Brooklyn, first on the New York City Council and now in Congress.

I am so proud of the work Yvette has done, but I also know she’s nowhere near being finished, She is working tirelessly to fight for the things our community needs most: compassionate immigration reform, protecting a woman’s right to choose, expanding affordable housing opportunities, and holding those in power accountable for their corrupt actions.

These fights are not easy, and they are not won overnight. But Yvette’s consistent and unwavering advocacy for these issues is what Brooklyn needs if we want to continue to make progress.

That is why I’m asking you to join me today, on my birthday, to support my daughter’s reelection campaign. We can’t afford to lose her voice in Congress, there is too much at stake.
