Let’s talk about what’s on the line this year, Jack:

Reproductive Rights: We are the only state in the region that will continue to protect abortion care once Roe v. Wade is overturned. We need to ensure our rights remain protected.

Gun Safety: New Mexico is an "open carry" state, which means that it's legal for most adults to openly carry guns and other deadly weapons in public without a license. We are home to a strong gun culture, but we also have thousands of parents that are terrified not knowing if their child’s school may be the next target of a mass shooting. Our voters will likely have to decide where we stand on our current gun legislation.

Voting Rights: The New Mexico Voting Rights Act would expand and protect voting rights by making Election Day a state holiday, restoring voting rights of those who were previously incarcerated, extending early voting, creating a permanent absentee ballot list for absentee voters, and more. Maggie will use her voice as Secretary of State to lobby for this and similar legislation.

The fate of all these issues and more will be decided at the ballot box in November. But with just 3 days left before the primary election, we must make sure our only pro-democracy candidate for Secretary of State is ready to win.
