Despite our best efforts, most energy in Massachusetts still comes from fossil fuels. Today, we have a chance to change this.

There's a hearing at the State House on a bill that would put our state on the road to 100% renewable energy. You can ensure that we take this essential step on the road to the Green New Deal by sending a message to your legislator. ([link removed])

Fossil fuels are a social justice issue. They disproportionately hurt low income communities and people of color, polluting our air and water, harming our health, and further disrupting our climate. Let's use our people power to safeguard our communities.

** Ask Your Rep To Attend Today's 100% Renewables Energy Hearing

Today from 1-5 pm, the joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy will be reviewing several key pieces of environmental legislation, including H.2836, a bill filed by Representatives Decker and Garballey that would commit Massachusetts to 100% renewable electricity by 2035 and 100% renewable energy economy-wide by 2045. Green Energy in Lowell! Following a months long campaign, the Fighting Lowell Node won a Community Choice Energy Contract that will bring an additional 45% of Class 1 renewable energy to the 5th largest city in the state. Read the news article here ([link removed]) .

Martha's Vineyard Bus Drivers Strike Rally Boston: We're taking our fight for a fair contract to the State House! The VTA and TCI have spent taxpayer dollars trying to bust the union and avoid settling not just a fair contract, but a contract of any kind. It's time for the State to step in, audit the agency's governance and financial management, and help precipitate an end to this dispute. July 23, noon-3 pm, 24 Beacon St, Boston.

Solidarity with Frontline Communities in Louisiana: Following the unprecedented floods along the Mississippi River and Hurricane Barry, communities in LA are calling for support from the climate movement. This fund was created for recovery and to advance long term planning for stronger communities in the face of continued disasters. 100% of proceeds go directly to Black and Native communities on the frontline of climate change. Petition to Support United Houma Nation: Sign this petition for federal recognition for the United Houma Nation. Due to lack of recognition, they can't directly access to federal resources or get support. These signatures are coordinated with the Principal Chief on the tribe’s annual trip to visit DC decision-makers who have the power to approve the almost 40 year pending petition.
