This email is a longer message about why I ran for Congress, and what our team is up against in 2020. We have an important fundraising deadline tomorrow, and we're $5,570 short.

Can you chip in $10 or $25 to help us close the gap?

John, I ran for office for the same reason I joined the Navy -- I stepped up when my country needed me.

As soon as I was elected to Congress, I knew I'd have to work harder than almost any of my colleagues to keep my seat -- I won my election by just 2.3 points.

But I didn't spend 20 years serving my country in uniform just to sit on the sidelines now when our democracy is at risk. I'm not backing down, and I know you won't either.

We have a major fundraising deadline tomorrow, and we're about $5,570 short of where we need to be -- Can you chip in $25, $10, or whatever you can to help us close the gap?

Outside groups don't care that I've worked to pass legislation that makes a meaningful difference in my constituents' lives, and they don't care that I've refused to participate in partisan games.

They know that I'm one of the very few Democratic incumbents running in a "toss-up" district that Trump won -- And they will spend millions of dollars to try to take this seat away from us.

If we don't hit our goal, we won't be able to respond to the misleading attacks that have already been launched against me OR the attacks we know are coming down the road. This team has never let me down before -- Can I count on you to rush in a donation so we can hit our goal before the clock runs out?

Thank you for always having my back,
