A Call to Action on U.S. Law Day
In the 1950s, the United States denoted May 1 as Law Day to showcase the U.S. legal system in comparison with the Soviet system. Today, the U.S. faces a number of rule of law challenges, noted WJP Executive Director Elizabeth Andersen in her Law Day address to the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. WJP will launch the Mexico States Rule of Law Index 2021-2022 on May 17 at the Mexico Senate. This index is one of the most complete measurements of institutional performance in Mexico and uses the same conceptual framework and methodology that WJP uses in over 130 countries to measure adherence to the rule of law in each of Mexico's 32 states.
The launch event is only available in Spanish, but the 2020-2021 Mexico States Rule of Law Index is available in English ([link removed]) , and this year's edition will be translated as well.
