In the 1950s, the United States denoted May 1 as Law Day to showcase the U.S. legal system in comparison with the Soviet system. Today, the U.S. faces a number of rule of law challenges, noted WJP Executive Director Elizabeth Andersen in her Law Day address to the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. She discussed the United States' declining scores in the WJP Rule of Law Index and what lawyers and bar associations can do to help protect democracy.
