I’m joining a panel of experts from across the political spectrum next
Friday to talk about how to pass federal laws to protect democracy.

This issue is close to my heart. Since taking office in 2021, I’ve watched
in horror as states across America passed a wave of laws to disenfranchise
voters of color.

So I got to work, leading the fight in Congress to pass the Freedom to
Vote: John R. Lewis Act. Following the wave of pro-democracy laws our
movement had won in the states, it was the most sweeping bill introduced
in decades – and came extremely close to passing.

And our fight for democracy isn't over: Right now, we're working on the
next wave of federal reforms and a strategy to pass them.
