Why I led the campaign for federal democracy reform

John,

I’m joining a panel of experts from across the political spectrum next Friday to talk about how to pass federal laws to protect democracy. Will you join me?

This issue is close to my heart. Since taking office in 2021, I’ve watched in horror as states across America passed a wave of laws to disenfranchise voters of color.

So I got to work, leading the fight in Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. Following the wave of pro-democracy laws our movement had won in the states, it was the most sweeping bill introduced in decades – and came extremely close to passing.

And our fight for democracy isn't over: Right now, we're working on the next wave of federal reforms and a strategy to pass them.

Will you join me for a virtual panel next Friday, May 6th at 8pm ET to find out what’s next in the federal fight to save democracy? >>

I’ll be joined by former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele, Congressman John Sarbanes, End Citizens United’s Porsha White, renowned actor Ed Helms, Democracy 21’s Fred Wertheimer, and RepresentUs' Damon Effingham to discuss what's next and how you can get involved.

Federal Reform: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. May 6th at 8pm ET. RSVP.

Extremist politicians in dozens of states passed laws that make it harder for Black and Hispanic voters to cast a ballot. These new laws present an existential threat to America’s free and fair democracy. And we can’t rest until we stop them.

On Friday’s call, we’ll answer your questions about the future of federal democracy reform, brief you on where we go from here in Congress, and give you ways to stay plugged into this fight.

So join me next Friday, May 6th at 8pm ET. You won’t want to miss it! >>

See you next Friday, John.
