This month, we celebrate the 5th anniversary of Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) which was started byBlack Mamas Matters Alliance ([link removed]) and recognized by the White House ([link removed]) . BMHW amplifies the voices of Black mothers and centers the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements, with activities rooted in human rights, reproductive justice, and birth justice frameworks.

Parent to Parent: Pregnancy and
COVID-19 Vaccination Stories

Health Leads ([link removed]) and the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy ([link removed]) partnered with maternal health providers and community members to co-design a resource that provides trusted information about the COVID-19 vaccine to pregnant and postpartum people. Barriers and Opportunities: Doula Care
in the Age of the Pandemic

Doulas are trained, non-medical birth workers who play a critical role in supporting pregnant people and new moms, but they have long faced countless barriers at hospitals that have been exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic. This report shares findings from doula focus groups and recommendations for system and policy improvements.
