Alexandria joined Senator Bernie Sanders for a visit to Staten Island, New
York on Sunday to meet with workers who successfully organized the first
union in the country at an Amazon facility!

They also spoke to workers at a separate Amazon facility who will be
voting this week on whether to join a union.

The unprecedented victory of these Amazon workers comes as workers across
industries – from Starbucks baristas to medical residents – are organizing
at a growing rate.

Earlier this month, Alexandria joined Starbucks workers in Astoria, Queens
to celebrate them becoming the first unionized Starbucks in New York City
and the tenth election won by Starbucks Workers United.

If you're inspired by these efforts and wondering how to organize at your
own workplace, we're here to help!

Amazon, which is owned by one of the wealthiest men on the planet,
reportedly spent over $4 million to defeat the union drive at the Staten
Island warehouse. Yet, Amazon Labor Union, an independent union running a
completely grassroots campaign, won 55% of the vote — a true testament to
worker power.

The act of organizing means coming together to address issues important to
you as a worker — from sexual harassment to management, workplace
bullying, wages, and benefits. It's not about a single person or single
store, it's about building community to improve the lives of everyone.

Team AOC

Alexandria is stepping up for workers by fighting on the ground to keep up
pressure on corporations like Amazon and Starbucks to support their
workers, and in Congress to pass legislation like the Protecting the Right
to Organize (PRO) Act and more.
