My journey towards climate activism started with devastating floods.

I’ve experienced climate destruction firsthand — here's why I refuse to give
up the fight.

Global Citizen,

Seven years ago, my life changed forever.

My family was living in Luzira, a neighborhood in Uganda on the shores of Lake
Victoria, where flooding is growing worse each year. One November evening, the
rain was more intense than usual. Water poured into our home, submerging our
furniture and destroying our possessions. Staying inside would have risked our
lives – so, in the dead of night, we fled, and never returned.

This wasn’t the first time I had experienced the devastating impacts of
climate change. Before moving to Luzira, my family had to sell our farm after
unseasonable flooding destroyed our crops. But this time was different. I was
enraged by the injustice of losing my home once again – and I was determined to
do something about it.

My climate activism started out small, organizing plastic pick-ups in local
neighbourhoods. Then, I joined the Fridays for Future movement, where I led
climate strikes throughout Uganda.Today, I’m a full time climate organizer
, spending my days advocating for climate education, fighting against
deforestation, and pushing for climate justice.

On Earth Day, let’s channel the power of collective action.

LET'S TAKE ACTION →

If my life experiences have taught me anything, it’s that anyone can make a
difference. Every week, I educate students on the importance of protecting
nature and building climate-resilient communities.

I’m living proof that everyone, everywhere can act for the planet – and no
action is too small.So, in
<[link removed]>honor of Earth
Day, will you join me in taking action for the planet?
