Global Citizen,
Seven years ago, my life changed forever.
My family was living in Luzira, a neighborhood in Uganda on the shores of Lake Victoria, where flooding is growing worse each year. One November evening, the rain was more intense than usual. Water poured into our home, submerging our furniture and destroying our possessions. Staying inside would have risked our lives – so, in the dead of night, we fled, and never returned.
My climate activism started out small, organizing plastic pick-ups in local neighbourhoods. Then, I joined the Fridays for Future movement, where I led climate strikes throughout Uganda. Today, I’m a full time climate organizer, spending my days advocating for climate education, fighting against deforestation, and pushing for climate justice. If my life experiences have taught me anything, it’s that anyone can make a difference. Every week, I educate students on the importance of protecting nature and building climate-resilient communities.
In solidarity,
