Wisconsin Wolves Need You WISCONSIN CONSERVATION CONGRESS SPRING HEARINGS April 2022 The Wisconsin Conservation Congress was established in 1934. The purpose was to provide citizens with a local avenue for input and exchange concerning conservation issues. The Conservation Congress serves in an advisory capacity to the Natural Resources Board. Each spring, they hold hearings (through a survey) to enable citizens to provide input on Wisconsin’s natural resource issues. You do not need to be a Wisconsin resident to participate in the survey nor do you need to answer all questions which range from a variety of topics including wolves, fishing, trapping, hunting.and even ammunition. You will be asked to provide your name and address and county of resident (if Wisconsin). If not a Wisconsin resident, scroll through the Wisconsin counties to the bottom for "Out of State". The responses to the questions are either Yes, No, No opinion. Some allow for a very short comment. WISCONSIN WCC SPRING SURVEY WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH 7 PM (CT) APRIL 14 There are 63 questions for the survey. There are additional questions only available to Wisconsin residents within certain counties. Click to access a voter guide There are several key questions available to all participants. LEGEND OF LAMAR VALLEY "06" 2022 marks 10 years since, one of the most famous wolves, affectionately known as "06" was shot by a trophy hunter 16 miles outside of Yellowstone National Park. "06" was born in the Agate Creek Pack in 2006; left at age three to form the Lamar Canyon Pack where she reigned as the alpha female for one of the more visible packs in Yellowstone National Park. "06" had a keen sense for avoiding rival packs and was able to bring down elk by herself. She was unusually large for a female, about 100 pounds, and unusually powerful but could not tell the difference between a spotting scope used by her admirers and the spotting scope of a rifle that took her life. To honor "06", we have relaunched one of our most requested shirts with the image of "06". Photographer Jimmy Jones granted us permission to use her photo and together with C.D. Cross who designed this layout, this illustration was created and we are most grateful to them. These shirts, which are available in a variety of colors, sizes and styles (scroll across to select long sleeve, sweatshirt, hoodies) ORDER YOURS TODAY THANK YOU!
