Monday Nature Mystery

We are pleased to announce the winner of our last Monday Nature Mystery, Jodi Bucknam! Please email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Monday%20Nature%20Mystery%20Winner!)

Congratulations to Jodi for correctly identifying the Bloodroot flower with the interesting latin name of Sanguinaria canadensis. According to Gardening Know How ([link removed]) , this plant is named for the dark red sap found in the stems and roots, which can be used to make a red, pink or orange dye. Because this plant can irritate the skin, handle it with gloves.
