Congratulations to Jodi for correctly identifying the Bloodroot flower with the interesting latin name of Sanguinaria canadensis. According to Gardening Know How, this plant is named for the dark red sap found in the stems and roots, which can be used to make a red, pink or orange dye. Because this plant can irritate the skin, handle it with gloves.
