I am pleased to invite you to the community celebration of former Executive Director Shaka Senghor's newest book, Letters to the Sons of Society. We invite you to join us for a live reading, fireside chat, and book signing at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles, CA.

This event will be held next week on Thursday, April 14th at 6:00pm PT. Admission is free and open to all, but an RSVP required. Letters to the Sons of Society invites men on a journey of honesty and healing through a collection of beautifully written letters to Shaka’s sons Jay and Sekou. Throughout the book, Senghor traces his journey as a Black man in America and unpacks the toxic and misguided messages about masculinity, mental health, love, and success that boys learn from an early age. It serves as a soulful examination of the bond between father and sons, and a touchstone for anyone seeking a kinder, more just world.

It should be a wonderful event, and one of our first in-person gatherings in over two years!
