I am pleased to invite you to the community celebration of former Executive Director Shaka Senghor's newest book, Letters to the Sons of Society. We invite you to join us for a live reading, fireside chat, and book signing at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles, CA.

This event will be held next week on Thursday, April 14th at 6:00pm PT.  Admission is free and open to all, but an RSVP required. If you are able to attend, please register at the Eventbrite link here. Please note that proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID test within 72 hours is required for entry.

Letters to the Sons of Society invites men on a journey of honesty and healing through a collection of beautifully written letters to Shaka’s sons Jay and Sekou. Throughout the book, Senghor traces his journey as a Black man in America and unpacks the toxic and misguided messages about masculinity, mental health, love, and success that boys learn from an early age. It serves as a soulful examination of the bond between father and sons, and a touchstone for anyone seeking a kinder, more just world.

It should be a wonderful event, and one of our first in-person gatherings in over two years!
