“In Putin's last days, he must know the free world will continue to answer
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s call for more humanitarian and
political support.”
– Governor Eric Holcomb
John,
In the midst of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, the entire Hoosier community is
praying for the people affected, and Governor Holcomb is taking steps to
provide tangible support:
* Indiana has divested $147 million in state government investments that have
Russian interests
* Indiana has offered to house screened Ukrainian refugees should the U.S.
government need a safe haven for them
* Indiana has verified that no public universities offer Russia-funded
programs
During his travels in Slovakia last week, Governor Holcomb visited a Ukrainian
refugee camp, where he heard of the horrors these people have dealt with
firsthand.

And while in the capital city of Bratislava, he placed a wreath in the Gate
of Freedom Memorial, a memorial that honors the victims of communism who tried
to cross the Iron Curtain in the late 1940's.
John, this entire experience was special for Governor Holcomb, and it reminded
him just how important it is that all free people of the world join together to
defend democracies.
He was also so inspired by the Ukrainian refugees he joined in Slovakia. Their
resolve and positivity in the midst of this crisis touched his heart, and Eric
reassured them that Indiana will be standing with them throughout Putin’s
invasion.
Governor Holcomb is so proud of all Hoosiers for the part we’re playing to
support the people of Ukraine in this time of crisis.
Indiana will always stand against threats to freedom and democracy, no matter
where they may be.
Thanks,
Holcomb Crew
