Hello Comrades. In-person meetings are forming, new OC members are falling into place, and many more updates are coming together! Technical issues kept us from a business meeting at the end of March, so we're making up for lost time with this scheduling. Plan on the usual last Sunday of the Month for our full April business call (5PM on the 24th).

If you've been itching for opportunities to learn, serve, and connect, you picked a good time to jump back in. Thank you for your patience as the dust clears, and please read on.

** 4/8/2022 Chapter Meeting (March Recap)
------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Friday 4/8
Time: 5 PM MST
Location: [link removed] ([link removed])
Whether joining educational resources, discussing local issues to plug into, or changing the shape of our current chapter, this is an exciting time to be a part of our chapter. The agenda for Friday's meeting will touch on these points:

- Unionizing successes! Amazon victory, plus DSA "Solidarity Is Brewing" campaign for Starbucks union support ([link removed]) .
- Invitation to join our chapter's in-person meetups at local Starbucks locations.
- The possibility of moving back to in-person business meetings
- What the best platform(s) for regular communication are within our chapter.
- Official endorsement for Dev Atma Khalsa
- Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee: Free online labor organizing training is available from EWOC ([link removed]) .
- Update on Chainbreaker's Midtown campaign: Survey results and more in this English+Spanish presentation ([link removed])
- Join our co-chairs in fostering future accessibility and connections with our local Deaf community. ASL videos providing a free college education are available through this playlist on YouTube ([link removed]) .
- A discussion of recent National Committee activity relating to the Palestinian BDS movement ([link removed]) .
Find the full Zoom meeting details at the end of this newsletter, and check out our Zoom user guide here ([link removed]) .

** Vote: Official Endorsement for Dev Atma Khalsa, County Magistrate Judge
------------------------------------------------------------
We previously talked with Dev Atma ([link removed]) , who is running on a progressive, non-punitive and rehabilitative platform for Santa Fe County Magistrate judge. He emphasized he wanted to follow the example of 1st District Circuit Court Judge Jason Lidyard (who was profiled by the Washington Post) by helping people who are suffering from addiction or otherwise stuck, instead of putting them behind bars. We will hold a vote on our chapter's official endorsement of Dev leading up to the Democratic primary on June 7th.

** Meetups Over Coffee
------------------------------------------------------------
Join your local DSA members in a morning chat at Starbucks. This is a great opportunity to discuss current events, build friendships, and informally bounce ideas about what you'd like to see from our chapter.

The next meet-up is Saturday, April 9th, at 8:45AM
780 St. Michaels Drive (Freestanding location, not the one in Smiths)
Google Maps link ([link removed])

Note: As of this writing, no Starbucks in New Mexico are publicly unionizing. While we're hoping to observe useful things at our local Starbucks locations, this is not an explicit unionizing effort, and will include no initiating of organizing dialogue with Starbucks staff.

Thank you for spending your limited time and energy on this message. I hope its contents give you things to look forward to. It can feel easier than ever to fall into hopelessness and cynicism, with such heavy current events. So how healing it is, to build connections with those who also share a struggle for a better world!

In Solidarity,

Jonathan Vair Duncan
Santa Fe DSA co-chair
