Dear John,
This morning in Washington D.C., the spokesperson for the Twin Metals mine is testifying in front of the U.S. Senate . This giant mining company, owned by a billionaire family in Chile, hopes to convince Congress to undo the protections we’ve begun to win to protect the Boundary Waters.

These are the powerful forces we’re up against in our efforts to protect the Boundary Waters, and we need your help to push back. Today is the last day of our 2022 Triple March Match for the Boundary Waters and we’re only $44,000 away from maximizing our triple match of $165,000 -- will you help us cross the finish line by making a gift today?

We’re working non-stop to generate grassroots messages to Senators and other decision-makers. We’re using the best possible scientific and legal information to advocate that the Wilderness watershed be off-limits to destructive mining, permanently.

Our work right now is more important than ever, and we need the resources right now to do it and do it well. Can we count on you to make a gift today? Your donation will be TRIPLED today. [[link removed]]

What is Twin Metals arguing? That we should risk the Boundary Waters - America’s most popular wilderness - so mining companies can extract trace amounts of copper, and use greenwashing tactics to argue that this is somehow a solution to the climate crisis. (We know the opposite is true - preserving wild lands keeps our planet resilient in a changing climate, and mining operations use vast amounts of energy!)

Julie Padilla, the Twin Metals spokesperson, told the Star Tribune newspaper it “wasn’t a fair question” to ask if the Twin Metals mine would pose zero risk to the Boundary Waters.
We find her response outrageous. In fact, the question that matters the most is whether the Boundary Waters Wilderness will stay pure and pollution-free. We know for a fact that a Twin Metals sulfide-ore mine next to the Wilderness would pollute it, and potentially forever.
As we’re on the precipice of protecting our Boundary Waters forever, we continue to face ongoing threats from billion-dollar corporations that have no stake in the future of our Wilderness. We need you now more than ever. Donate today so we can keep fighting together: [link removed]
