Does access to care differ under Medicaid versus private insurance?

Medicaid provides very low– and no-cost coverage to millions of Americans who can’t afford private insurance. Yet debates surrounding the value of Medicaid versus private insurance continue. In a new P4A Spark blog post, researcher Naomi Zewde shares findings from her P4A

Impacts of the ACA on healthcare access and utilization for Indigenous women

Indigenous women are at increased risk for experiences with maternal morbidity and mortality. Research has shown that a lack of access to affordable, high-quality healthcare from preconception through pregnancy and postpartum is an important but modifiable risk factor. As part of our latest cohort of grantees, Claire Margerison and Danielle Gartner of Michigan State University are investigating whether the impacts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on healthcare access and utilization were equitable between Indigenous and non-Indigenous women.
