Dear NRDC Activist,

It's hard to believe that the world's old-growth forests — our vital
allies in the fight against climate change — can be mowed down and turned
into disposable Charmin toilet paper.

But that's exactly what's happening every day as ancient trees, clearcut
from the Canadian boreal forest, are used by Procter & Gamble — the
largest purchaser of boreal pulp for tissue in the U.S. — to make Charmin
toilet paper and other disposable products like paper towels.

NRDC is kicking off a campaign to raise $220,000 to stop Procter & Gamble
and companies like them from flushing away irreplaceable old-growth
forests like the Canadian boreal.

[ [link removed] ]Make your tax-deductible gift by 3/31 to help NRDC save the boreal
forest, end the tree-to-toilet paper pipeline, and defend our environment
on all fronts. We're aiming to raise $220,000 by 3/31 to strengthen our
urgent fight to protect these forests from the clutches of logging and
dirty energy companies.

[ [link removed] ]Even just $5 makes a huge difference.

Magnificent and vast, the boreal is home
for 600 Indigenous communities. It provides habitat for a wondrous array
of species, including moose, wolves, pine marten, the elusive wood bison,
and the iconic woodland caribou.

Plus, at this moment of extreme climate peril for our planet, this ancient
forest is an indispensable ally, locking away tons of carbon while we
transition to cleaner energy. In fact, the Canadian boreal's lush, verdant
trees and vegetation store twice as much carbon as the Amazon.

And a recent report from climate scientists warns that climate change is
happening more quickly than anticipated — so now more than ever, we CANNOT
lose this carbon-storing powerhouse.

Tragically, every minute, we lose a city's block worth of this majestic,
climate-critical wilderness to clearcutting — in part to produce P&G's
Charmin paper products.

[ [link removed] ]Your $5 donation today
will turbo-charge our work to:

* Mobilize more than 3 million NRDC supporters and other consumers to
demand companies like Procter & Gamble stop destroying the boreal
forest for profit
* Push the Biden administration and Canadian government to protect the
boreal and other temperate forest ecosystems that sustain wildlife
like the Canada lynx and the threatened boreal caribou
* Amplify voices of Indigenous communities who have been fighting to
save their homelands from being plundered by U.S. companies like P&G
* Shine a light on bad actors like Procter & Gamble to expose the truth
behind their bald-faced greenwashing, like the bogus claim that
"Charmin Loves Trees"

Once these ancient, never-logged
forests are cut, the ecosystem they house will be gone forever. And the
loss of their vast storehouse of carbon will take a devastating toll on
our climate.

gift to save ancient forests and defend our environment on all fronts.
We've set a goal to raise $220,000 by March 31 — I hope you'll join other
loyal NRDC supporters who will chip in today to respond.

I know together we can end this outrageous destruction of our planet's
ancient forests.

Sincerely,

Shelley Vinyard
Boreal Corporate Campaign Manager, NRDC

Donations will be used to stop clearcutting of ancient forests and for
other campaigns that allow NRDC to protect the environment in the most
effective way possible.

The mission of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is to
safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals, and the natural
