** ‘We Are Being Hunted’
------------------------------------------------------------
* Last week, thousands of people across the country marked the one-year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shootings ([link removed]) with quiet remembrance, mourning, and marches. The somber occasion also served as a reminder of how much — and how little — has changed in the fight to protect our communities.
* OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates' Thu Nguyen and Roland Hwang spoke to The 19th ([link removed]) about the history of anti-Asian hate in the U.S. and what policymakers need to do as incidents continue to rise. We also highlighted that Asian American women and elders continue to face disproportionate violence ([link removed]) , as seen with the appalling assault in Yonkers, New York.
* OCA National Center also joined with Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta ([link removed]) and more than 400 organizations in calling for further action from elected officials, including investments in violence prevention programs and increased access to mental health and housing resources, among other proactive measures.
