[[link removed]] Building a better democracy{SALUTATION~DEAR NAME OR FRIEND},
Every general election, sites like the BBC [[link removed]] , Guardian
[[link removed]] and Telegraph
[[link removed]] all do a great job at presenting the number of seats won and lost, yet often
the iniquities of first past the post aren't given the priority they need. The
percentage of seats and votes won by each party will be seperate. They'll show
the change in vote share for each party, but not the change in seat share.
Seperating out these results means that the obvious flaws in our voting system
aren't imediately apparent.
We want to change this, so I'm building our own website where you'll be able to watch the results come in live on election night . The stark difference between votes and seats will be readily apparent.
Parties that lose votes but gain seats will be obvious. The vast difference
between the number of votes per MP will be front and centre.
But I need you help to highlight the flaws in Westminster's voting system.
Getting a live feed of election results and specialist developers costs
thousands of pounds.
