We love it whenever our people get the recognition they deserve. 🙌 Today, POLITICO released its list of the 40 most influential people on race and politics [[link removed]] , and we’re so pumped to see a number of familiar faces! Our former national policy advisor and Georgia State Representative, Bee Nguyen, made the list for “restoring the right to vote for 53,000 Georgians." Joining her were our partners, Nsé Ufot and Chuck Rocha, as well as current Boston Mayor and past New American Leaders Action Fund endorsed candidate, Michelle Wu. New American Senators Mazie Hirono and Tammy Duckworth and Representatives Stephanie Murphy and Pramila Jayapal also made the list!

This week, we learned that the census, which has a longstanding trend of undercounting Black people, Latinos, and Native Americans, just did the same thing again in the most recent 2020 census [[link removed]] . Surprised? We aren’t, especially when taking into account that the Trump administration cut census field operations short by a month and attempted to exclude undocumented immigrants from the count altogether. But the fact that Latinos were left out of this census at more than three times the rate of a decade earlier is egregious and needs to be addressed. The census, as we know, must ensure that everyone living in the United States is counted. No exceptions.
