Again and again over the past few months, the filibuster has been used to

The filibuster requires 60 votes to end debate and actually move to pass
any legislation, otherwise the minority party can block a vote
indefinitely. It’s not a procedural rule, it’s a tool to score political
points and halt progress. And it has already stalled important and popular
legislation, like protecting voting rights, codifying Roe v. Wade into
federal law, and passing President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.
A handful of corporate-backed, “moderate” Democrats have come together to
choose this outdated gridlock-creating rule instead of progress. CNN
recently quoted Morgan on this issue:
"There's a high level of voter frustration around this. They're over it.
They're frustrated. They showed up. They voted for change, for results."
She’s right – Ohioans are ready for a Senator who will actually legislate.
Moderates and Republicans are pointing to this rule as an excuse to block
voting rights, endanger our democracy, and prevent investments in our
communities. That’s simply wrong.
And here’s the deal: Tim Ryan, Morgan’s opponent in the primary, has
flip-flopped on key issues, like reproductive rights and guns. He’s even
taken money from Joe Manchin’s PAC – while running ads attacking Manchin
and saying he’ll stand up to him in the Senate. Tim Ryan says he’s against
the filibuster now, but he changes his mind depending on the political
winds. Morgan is unbought – and she’ll stick to her convictions in the
Senate.
