Monday Nature Mystery

We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, Lorraine Stewart! Please email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Monday%20Nature%20Mystery%20Winner!)

Congratulations to Lorraine for correctly identifying the female Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus). According to All About Birds ([link removed]) , Red-winged Blackbirds are a social species – they roost in flocks all year long. Winter flocks can be congregations of several million birds, including other blackbird species and starlings.

In recognition of Invasive Plants Awareness Week, here is this week’s mystery. This species has triangular shaped leaves, and later in the season will have blue berries. What plant is this?

Good luck!
