Congratulations to Lorraine for correctly identifying the female Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus). According to All About Birds, Red-winged Blackbirds are a social species – they roost in flocks all year long. Winter flocks can be congregations of several million birds, including other blackbird species and starlings.
