LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
I don't know about you but, for me, time is flying by. It's hard to stay connected to ourselves and the world around us when everything is moving so quickly. But we must.
As Black History Month comes to a close and Women's History Month starts next week, I'm reflecting on how we celebrate Black Women of the past, present and future, and also recognize the toll this work can take while we're fighting for change. I want to make room for celebration, but also for recognition. As important as our work is, we have to take care of ourselves, our families, and everyone around us. When we center care and connection, we put ourselves in the best position possible to build this movement.
That's why I’m recommitting to making sure I have balance in my work and personal life. I’m leaning in to try to understand what my team needs to move this work forward. And I’m listening intently to our partners and alum, so that we can deepen our connection.

ATEIRA GRIFFIN NAMED RE:POWER’S NEW DIRECTOR OF WOMEN OF COLOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
re:power is excited to welcome Ateira Griffin as its first Director of Women of Color Leadership Programs [[link removed]] . In this role, Ateria will implement programming that supports and uplifts the work of self-identifying women of color leaders while also engaging with our women of color alum.
A life-long Baltimore City resident, educator, facilitator, and community organizer and writer, Ateira is the founder and CEO of BOND - Building Our Nation’s Daughters, Inc. which mentors single mothers to cultivate positive mother-daughter relationships and increase their economic mobility two generations at a time.

REMEMBERING AMIR
It’s taken some time for us to weigh in on this, because we don’t want to be another organization using tragedy to promote our work or to rile people up. And we don’t want to add to the trauma.
But as hard as we tried to not say anything, we have been moved to speak on the death of Amir Locke [[link removed]] . Because the injustices Black people and other communities pushed to the margins continue to face are why re:power exists, they are why we do this work.
