LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR |
I don't know about you but, for me, time is flying by. It's hard to stay connected to ourselves and the world around us when everything is moving so quickly. But we must.
As Black History Month comes to a close and Women's History Month starts next week, I'm reflecting on how we celebrate Black Women of the past, present and future, and also recognize the toll this work can take while we're fighting for change. I want to make room for celebration, but also for recognition. As important as our work is, we have to take care of ourselves, our families, and everyone around us. When we center care and connection, we put ourselves in the best position possible to build this movement.
That's why I’m recommitting to making sure I have balance in my work and personal life. I’m leaning in to try to understand what my team needs to move this work forward. And I’m listening intently to our partners and alum, so that we can deepen our connection. What are you doing to bring peace and balance back into your life and work? Reply to my tweet and let me know. - Karundi, Executive Director |

So make sure you take an opportunity to check out our previous posts and make sure you visit us on social media this Friday for the two final posts in this series, featuring Jamecia Gray and Fresco Steez. |

It’s taken some time for us to weigh in on this, because we don’t want to be another organization using tragedy to promote our work or to rile people up. And we don’t want to add to the trauma.
But as hard as we tried to not say anything, we have been moved to speak on the death of Amir Locke. Because the injustices Black people and other communities pushed to the margins continue to face are why re:power exists, they are why we do this work. |
