John,
I am proud to announce that the House passed the
Global Respect Act, a bill I co-sponsored that denies visas to
those who commit human rights abuses against LGTBQ+ people,
sanctioning individuals and nations who commit these abuses.
This is a step forward in protecting the rights
of the LGBTQ+ community around the world. It ensures that America
is not a safe haven for those who violate the human rights of
individuals because of their sexual orientation or gender
identity.
For far too long, state-sanctioned violence
around the world has targeted members of the LGBTQ+ community
without any repercussions. This bill will help bring some justice
to these horrific acts by banning offenders from entering our
country, gathering data on anti-LGBTQ crimes, and holding
violators accountable.
This piece of legislation ensures that our fight
for justice includes protecting victims of violence and
persecution around the world and demonstrates solidarity with our
LGBTQ+ family everywhere. If you support the Global Respect Act,
will you sign my petition today and tell the LGBTQ+ community you
have their back?
