After the fiscal crises of the 1970s, 9/11, and the Great Recession, NYC's leaders handed over public land, subsidies, and tax breaks to the private sector for far too little in return. As we work to help our city recover from the pandemic’s health and economic impacts, Brad is pushing our city now to take a different approach — one that invests in public infrastructure as a platform for shared prosperity.
As a citywide elected official, Brad is a leading progressive voice for the safe and sustainable city we want to be. This can’t be a recovery that sends us backwards to the post 9/11 era of surveillance and stop and frisk, or one that relies on public funds to subsidize luxury housing and economic development in a bid to appeal to the 1 percent.
