Brad has been working in the Comptroller's Office for less than two months and he is already full speed ahead in the fight for an inclusive recovery.
This is a pivotal moment for our city. The choices we make now will determine whether this is a recovery that lifts all boats – or one that only funds new yachts for those at the top.
As NYC's chief financial officer, Brad is well positioned to be a leading voice in the fight for a shared and sustainable recovery. But we need your help to build a strong foundation for the fights to come — donate here.
After the fiscal crises of the 1970s, 9/11, and the Great Recession, NYC's leaders handed over public land, subsidies, and tax breaks to the private sector for far too little in return. As we work to help our city recover from the pandemic’s health and economic impacts, Brad is pushing our city now to take a different approach — one that invests in public infrastructure as a platform for shared prosperity.
As a citywide elected official, Brad is a leading progressive voice for the safe and sustainable city we want to be. This can’t be a recovery that sends us backwards to the post 9/11 era of surveillance and stop and frisk, or one that relies on public funds to subsidize luxury housing and economic development in a bid to appeal to the 1 percent.
New York City’s recovery has to invest in and uplift the people who live, work, and strive here.
That’s why Brad is fighting to end tax giveaways for luxury developments, raise wages for workers, support community violence prevention programs, and invest in our aging infrastructure to get ready for the climate crisis.
We need a movement of New Yorkers who are speaking up and shaping that progressive future together. If you are a part of this movement, donate $13 (or whatever you can) right now.
Grateful to be in this fight with you,
Team Lander
