Happy National Caregivers Day!

We’re celebrating this important day with the launch of our “Portraits of Care” ad campaign featured on billboards in New York City’s Times Square and Washington, DC, inviting people to pay attention to the caregiving that is happening all around us, and to reflect on the way care shows up in their own lives:

The photos in "Portraits of Care" were captured by renowned celebrity photographer Shayan Asgharnia as part of the Communities of Care art installation created last summer in partnership with artist activist Paola Mendoza, Caring Across Generations, Hand in Hand: The Domestic Employers Network, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance.

The campaign features the portraits and stories of people with disabilities, aging adults, care workers and family caregivers of diverse races, genders, abilities and ages, painting a picture of the strength and love in the “Care Squad” and illuminating the essential, intimate, and loving caregiving that takes place in our homes and communities every day.

The stories that these portraits tell are central to our work of transforming our country’s failing care infrastructure and shifting cultural narratives and norms around care and caregiving. As we continue to advocate for supports for people who give and receive care on the national stage, “Portraits of Care” urges us to collectively vision what a caring future looks like, and inspire that vision into action by holding Congress accountable to the historical investments in care infrastructure that they owe to our families and our communities.
