Hi John,
We’ve got a special delivery for Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. We’re at the Foreign Office delivering a Valentine’s day card signed by you and over 4 million ocean-lovers across the world that reminds the government that there’s not plenty more fish in the sea - and they need to help protect our oceans.
In March, world leaders will meet at the UN where they will negotiate a deal for a Global Ocean Treaty. A strong Treaty can help our oceans recover and help protect our planet. Can you share this image on social media and let the Foreign Secretary know millions of people across the world want proper ocean protection?

Our oceans are in crisis. Industrial activity and climate change have wreaked havoc on our oceans for decades and they’re at the brink of collapse. Not only would we lose precious wildlife and unique marine ecosystems but billions of people across the world would lose their primary food source.
Thankfully, there’s good news - when they’re left alone our oceans can thrive and recover quickly, and we still have time to protect them. A strong Global Ocean Treaty would give governments the powers to put at least 30 percent of the world’s oceans off limits to industrial activity - scientists say it’s exactly what we need to help our oceans thrive. For years, millions of people across the world, including almost 400,000 people like you in the UK, have been calling on their governments to deliver proper ocean protection. Finally after years of pandemic-related postponements world leaders will finally have the chance to deliver a strong Global Ocean Treaty.
Now we need the UK government to act on their claims of being ocean protection world leaders. Can you help share this image on social media and deliver a Valentine’s Day message that lets them know? Roses are red, violets are blue, Liz Truss, millions of people want ocean protection from you.

The UK government wants to be seen as a world leader in ocean protection and fighting climate change - now we have a chance to make them act on those words, and help deliver historic ocean protection. Make sure you act too.
Thank you for everything you do,
Anthony and the oceans team
