Our oceans are in crisis. Industrial activity and climate change have wreaked havoc on our oceans for decades and they’re at the brink of collapse. Not only would we lose precious wildlife and unique marine ecosystems but billions of people across the world would lose their primary food source.
Thankfully, there’s good news - when they’re left alone our oceans can thrive and recover quickly, and we still have time to protect them. A strong Global Ocean Treaty would give governments the powers to put at least 30 percent of the world’s oceans off limits to industrial activity - scientists say it’s exactly what we need to help our oceans thrive. For years, millions of people across the world, including almost 400,000 people like you in the UK, have been calling on their governments to deliver proper ocean protection. Finally after years of pandemic-related postponements world leaders will finally have the chance to deliver a strong Global Ocean Treaty.
Now we need the UK government to act on their claims of being ocean protection world leaders. Can you help share this image on social media and deliver a Valentine’s Day message that lets them know? Roses are red, violets are blue, Liz Truss, millions of people want ocean protection from you.
