John, I'm excited to share the latest from CRC with you:Who is the Left's "dark money" platform of choice? ([link removed]
ActBlue pulled in $407 million in 2020 through its ActBlue Charities and Civics arms, along with a whopping $4.2 billion through its PAC arm. This money--"dark money"--went to hundreds or even thousands of left-leaning groups active in the 2020 election, ranging from Priorities USA Action to Greenpeace to the Southern Poverty Law Center. New York Times reporters Ken Vogel and Shane Goldmacher recently explored the world of "dark money" spending on both the Left and Right. They concluded that Democrats, not Republicans, used more "dark money" in 2020--torpedoing the Democrats' narrative for the past decade. The Capital Research Center is proud to have assisted. Charitable bail organizations such as the Bail Project and the Minnesota Freedom Fund use donations and taxpayer dollars to help pay the bail of alleged criminals facing charges. However, the bail funds have frequently become controversial as numerous suspects released on bail have been arrested for committing additional crimes. The nation's capital now requires patrons of bars, restaurants, and other indoor entertainment establishments to show their papers--a vaccination card and photo identification--in order to enter. Such local tyranny troubles conservatives. Should conservative institutions in such jurisdictions leave, surrender, engage in civil disobedience, or embrace "Irish democracy" by ignoring the diktats in private? What Do Conservatives Have in Common with the Black Panthers?
In 1967 the Black Panthers were known as the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. This early version of the Black Panthers had some philosophic similarities with the conservative movement today. Although coming from ideologically opposite directions, conservatives and the Black Panther Party shared a very healthy respect for the Second Amendment, an appreciation of private schooling, and a common desire to replace the American welfare state and publicly expose its flaws.
Truth is often stranger than fiction.

An Education on Image
In this episode ([link removed] The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) has a public image problem. Increasing numbers of parents have become aware of the union's involvement in prolonging destructive restrictions on schoolchildren in the name of "protecting" them from coronavirus--most notably school lockdowns--despite widespread evidence that they do not control viral spread and have harmed students’ educations.
Rather than enable children to resume their childhoods, Randi Weingarten's union is trying to fix its image problem by controlling the narratives put before children. The AFT formed a partnership with NewsGuard ([link removed] a rating group that tracks the supposed trustworthiness of news outlets, to bring its rating tools into classrooms. Unsurprisingly, NewsGuard leans to the left.
Joining CRC's Michael Watson to discuss the troubling partnership is Dan Gainor, vice president for Free Speech America at the Media Research Center.
