Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 48 | January 30th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, Our hearts are heavy this week as we continue to mourn the murders of two NYPD heroes. On Friday, Officer Jason Rivera was laid to rest as hundreds of thousands of law enforcement members and New Yorkers lined the streets to honor their lives and selfless service. We listened to the heartbreaking eulogy delivered beautifully by Officer Rivera’s widow who spoke truthfully and passionately not only about her husband, but about the dangerous laws and policies that are putting all of us--even service members--at risk. It was a painful, yet powerful reminder that elections have very real consequences. Yet, despite this, Governor Hochul and New York Democrats have vowed to press on with their radical agenda, refusing to “bow to pressure” and repeal their dangerous laws. Kathy Hochul won’t even condemn the Manhattan DA’s policy of refusing to prosecute crimes. She instead has embarked on a dishonest (yet predictable) crusade against guns. We already have tens of thousands of gun laws on the books. But what Kathy Hochul and Democrats fail to admit is that criminals break laws. They will never admit it is their destruction of our criminal justice system that created this crisis. It should be crystal clear to every New Yorker that they will not do what’s necessary to restore safety. They are full speed ahead on their dangerous radical agenda. It’s up to the voters of this state to use their power. They must take Officers Rivera and Mora--and all of the innocent victims of crime--into the voting booths with them this November and vote for a Republican governor who will stop this insanity once and for all. We must vote like all our lives depend on it because they do. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman Hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers line Fifth Avenue to give a final salute to NYPD Officer Jason Rivera during his funeral service mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. NYGOP Must See News: DCCC issues support for aggressive New York gerrymander that could eliminate 5 GOP seats Fox News Nick Langworthy, the state Republican Party chairman, disagreed with that conclusion saying, "This commission has been a sham since day one when Democrats totally co-opted the process. They made clear they had no interest in working in a bipartisan manner to draw lines that were in the best interest of New Yorkers." Her constant pandering to the far left is at the expense of everyday New Yorkers’ safety, security and wallets,” said state GOP chairman Nick Langworthy. “There is nothing moderate about her — the only way to stop this madness is to elect a Republican governor in November.” Read Full Here Bipartisanship stumbles on New York redistricting panel Associated Press This commission has been a sham since day one when Democrats totally co-opted the process. They made clear they had no interest in working in a bipartisan manner to draw lines that were in the best interest of New Yorkers,” said Nick Langworthy, the state Republican Party chairman. While Republicans control redistricting across huge swaths of the country, New York is a rare place where Democrats wield extraordinary power over the redrawing of congressional lines. How the state carves out its congressional districts could decide control over the U.S. House. Even as the Empire State will see its representation in the House drop from 27 to 26 under the latest Census maps, Democrats could potentially gain seats in the New York delegation. Kathy Hochul’s office pushed to force the bargain-priced buyout of a well-positioned cannabis retailer just days before it was set to wriggle out of the deal — and just days after the lucky acquirer attended a fundraiser for Hochul, according to an explosive lawsuit. Gov. Hochul’s administration used improper influence late last month to help recreational pot seller Ascend Wellness seal its $75 million deal to buy the MedMen marijuana dispensary chain, the suit filed on Monday claims. Specifically, MedMen’s lawsuit alleges that Hochul’s office pushed regulators to OK the controversial deal after dragging their feet for nearly a year — and just days after one of Ascend’s executives attended a fundraiser for Hochul’s reelection campaign.
