Brandt,

What’s the TL;DR? If you’re a Federal filer, we’re helping you stay on top of all your RFAIs with new notifications and we’re also adding an extra validation step to your reports to make sure what you’re submitting matches what the FEC expects.

In the wake of the pandemic, we’ve spent much of the last year improving our Call Time features to take advantage of the new fundraising landscape. The mobile app is now free for everyone to use, and we’ve added extra calling features and templates that help you manage your call time even if you can’t all be in the same room.

But we haven’t forgotten our compliance report filers. We’ve helped thousands of committees over the years successfully file their disclosure reports with federal and state agencies. So, we’re always keeping an eye on FEC updates and adjusting things behind the scenes to match any new reporting guidance.

As we gear up for the next election cycle, we’re making two small but important changes for Federal filers that many of you have been requesting.

-Responding promptly to an RFAI is crucial, but often these letters or emails from the FEC land in the inbox of someone other than the compliance officer. So, we’re using an integrated API to make sure these notices will appear right on your Main Menu page in NGP.

-We’ve also added a new step on your Federal Disclosure Report that will do a validation check via integrated API on your Column B totals (your total aggregated numbers for the cycle or year). This will compare what is in the new report you’re filing with what is on file with the FEC.

These Column B totals are one of the first things the FEC checks, and if the totals don't add up, you’re guaranteed to get a letter from them. So we’re helping you avoid those headaches before you file your next report. If there are any mismatches, you’ll be notified which line item you’ll need to correct or amend before filing for the current period.

So, those are just a few of the changes you might notice this month. My hope is that these updates are going to make your day-to-day compliance reporting tasks much easier. As the FEC releases more improved APIs, we’ll be on the lookout for more ways to simplify the reporting process and make sure you avoid mistakes. And when the FEC updates their filing formats, don’t worry - we’ve got that too.

As always, feel free to reach out to me or any of our staff members with your feedback and suggestions.

Yours,
