Surveillance advertising has eroded our consensus reality and pushed democracy to the brink. But we can break this cycle by banning surveillance advertising and removing the financial incentive for companies to endlessly feed users polarizing and divisive content. We’ve seen the dangerous repercussions of this toxic business model from rampant COVID misinformation to the Capitol insurrection.
