On the one-year anniversary of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, President Obama delivered this chilling message:

“The truth is that our democracy is at greater risk today than it was [on January 6, 2021].”

Then, A.G. Holder echoed the connection between the physical attack on the Capitol and the GOP's legislative attacks on fair elections:

“There is a direct connection between the Big Lie, the January 6th insurrection and attempts to suppress the vote and subvert our electoral infrastructure

You are now either with those who do not believe in our system of government or you stand for America

It’s time to choose.”

As The Guardian put it, “Republicans' anti-democratic attacks are the new normal.” But we refuse to let them get away with any of it, John. We intend to fight for our democracy and the rule of law. Are you in?

Here's the plan:

☐ Work as hard as we can to boost the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act in the Senate.

☐ Fight GOP attempts to subvert democracy through gerrymandering. (It's working! Data for Progress reports that “Redistricting is going surprisingly well for Democrats.” )

☐ Speak out against Republicans' voter suppression legislation.

But time is running out -- we're in the final stages of redistricting and 2022 is an election year! So we have to double down on our efforts before it's too late, and that's going to take massive grassroots support.
