This is deeply personal for me.

My sweet 14-year-old nephew, Alex, was shot and murdered while sitting at his desk in Language Arts class.

Alex was just a Freshman in high school who played trombone and baritone in the Marching Band.

He dreamed of becoming a University of Connecticut Husky one day -- a dream he will never be able to achieve.

Alex will never graduate. Never walk down the aisle. Never have a family of his own.

My world shattered when I got the call about Alex. But I knew I couldn’t stand by and do nothing while our children -- my nephew -- are slaughtered at their desks by gun violence. So, I’m working tirelessly to kick every single NRA-backed politician OUT of office, elect gun safety champions, and finally ban assault weapons.
